Hi,
You may not have noticed, but whether you’re at the front, the middle, or the back of the pack, the feelings are surprisingly similar.
At the front, runners worry about pace, pressure, and staying strong. In the middle, it’s about finding rhythm and hanging in there. At the back, it can be about
courage, pride, and the determination just to keep moving.
Different places, but the same emotions: self-doubt, excitement, nerves before the start, joy when the finish line comes into view, pride in the effort. We all celebrate the little wins. We all feel the hard days.
That’s the beauty of the running community at its best. It doesn’t matter where you are in the pack — you belong. The runner at the back has just as much to teach the one at the front. The middle-of-the-pack
walker has lessons and encouragement that lift everyone around them.
So instead of thinking in terms of better or worse, faster or slower, it’s worth remembering: running is one of the few places where everyone’s challenges overlap. It’s one of the rare spaces where we can look sideways instead of forward and see people who get it.
And that’s the community I love. A space where support flows in every direction, where nobody is dismissed for being “too slow” or ignored for
being “too fast.”
If you’ve ever felt like you don’t quite fit, know this: you absolutely do!! Your place in the pack is valid, your story matters, and your presence encourages someone else more than you realise.
Don't forget, if you’ve downloaded the Getting Started guide, it’s also waiting for you inside the Runners Gateway Hub, where you can connect with others who are walking, jogging, or just finding their feet
again.
And if you’re ready to take the next small step, we’ve just launched a free pilot of the Walk Run Achieve program — a gentle, adaptable 22-week plan for anyone starting (or re-starting) from scratch with the goal of running 5k in a sustainable way that fits your life and your pace.
This is
where the magic happens — real people, real encouragement, and progress that feels good, not forced.
👉 Come and be part of it. Join the Hub, say hello, and see how much we can all learn from each other.
See you there?
