Hi,
Let’s be honest—starting (or restarting) your running journey can feel lonely sometimes.
You head out the door in old trainers, not quite sure if you’re “doing it right.” Maybe you feel too slow, too unfit, too different from what a runner is supposed to look like. Maybe it’s hard to
stay motivated when it’s just you, your breath, and that voice in your head saying, “Why bother?”
But here’s the truth:
You don’t have to do this alone.
When I started, I was nervous too.
I remember those early runs so clearly. I was nervous—doubtful, really—but I had the quiet support of my family and a few close friends. That little circle helped keep me accountable. It was still largely a solitary
experience, though. Just me, my thoughts, and the sound of my feet on the pavement.
But there was something about knowing there were people watching—cheering me on from a distance—that made it easier to keep showing up.
Later, after finishing my first marathon, I discovered the online running community. And wow… that changed everything.
Yes, running is still a solo act in many ways, but being part of that broader community gave me so
much:
Knowledge (what to do, what not to do, what actually matters)
Perspective (turns out, some of the “rules” are just myths)
Support (a wider circle of people who got it—really got it)
And that’s the heart of what Runners Gateway is all about.
Real encouragement. Real people. No hype.
At Runners Gateway, we believe running should feel
accessible and encouraging, not intimidating. It’s about creating a space where beginners and returners can find support, learn what actually works, and feel cheered on—without the overwhelm or the unrealistic expectations.
We’re not here to sell you a dream or shout from the sidelines.
We’re here to walk beside you, every step of the way.
You belong here.
Whether you’re a brand
new beginner or someone coming back after setbacks, you are part of something real. A growing, diverse group of people who walk, jog, run, and start again. People who understand what it’s like to feel overwhelmed… and what it means to keep showing up anyway.
In our community. In every comment and cheer. In every “me too.”
That’s where the magic happens.
This week, reach out.
Say hi in the group. Comment on someone
else’s post. Share a small win—or a struggle.
And if you’ve been lurking quietly, just know this:
There’s a place for you here, exactly as you are.
We’re not meant to go it alone.
We’re meant to walk each other home.
Keep going—you’ve got people cheering for you.
