Hi ,
Have you ever noticed how one short walk or slow run can shift your whole day?
Not just your fitness — your headspace, your mood, the way you show up for yourself.
Most of us start moving for the physical benefits. We want to feel fitter, breathe easier, have a bit more energy. And those things absolutely come. But the real changes? They
happen quietly, in the background, almost without you noticing at first.
You build a little more confidence.
You start trusting yourself again.
You feel a bit lighter in your own skin.
Other habits get easier.
Life feels just a little more possible.
That’s the real magic of walking and running.
They don’t just make you stronger — they help you see yourself differently.
I learnt this in the big moments, like
training for my first marathon and eventually crossing Australia on foot. But I also learnt it in the tiny moments… the mornings I almost didn’t go, the days I felt flat, the times I chose movement anyway. That’s where the transformation really happened.
And here’s the part I didn’t expect: along the way, I ended up connecting with other people who were on their own journeys. Beginners. Slow runners. People starting again after long breaks. People who doubted themselves
just as much as I did at times.
I didn’t go out looking for community, but I’m glad I found it.
Having people who understand the tired days, the messy weeks, and the small wins makes the whole thing easier to stick with. It’s not the reason the change happens… but it’s often the reason the change continues.
If you’re taking your first steps — or trying to find your way back — you don’t have to do it alone. You’re welcome to walk or run alongside people
who get it.
